Everybody wants satin black until they park it outside in July. Here is how to think about color and finish when your vehicle lives in the Valley.
Light colors run cooler
Dark films absorb more of the sun's energy, so they get hotter to the touch and work harder in the heat. Whites, silvers, light grays and pale blues stay cooler. That is part of why so many fleet vehicles in Phoenix start white.
Matte and satin need a little more care
Satin and matte finishes look incredible, and they are very popular right now. They are also less forgiving of hard water spots and baked-on dust. Wash in the morning or evening, not on hot panels in direct sun.
Gloss is the easy keeper
A gloss film is the simplest to live with. It cleans easily and hides minor wear well.
Specialty films
Chrome, color shift and textured films are statement pieces. They are more delicate than standard color films and we will tell you honestly how they handle the desert before you commit.
A smart compromise
Love a dark color? Consider a lighter or gloss roof, or a partial wrap that keeps the darkest film off the panels that face the sky. Then see film samples in person at the shop.
